It’s official! I filed to run as a Democrat for the Montana State Legislature HD19 this morning.

GREAT FALLS, MT – On Thursday, January 11, 2024, Jane Weber filed as a candidate for the MT State Legislature in House District 19. Newly reconfigured, HD 19 covers the original Great Falls townsite from the Civic Center east to 15th Street on the northside of Central Avenue and east to 20th Street on the southside. Rectangularly shaped, HD 19 encompasses neighborhoods from the river to 10th Avenue South. Weber said, “I live within this neighborhood and am excited to represent the interests of our neighbors.”

As a State Representative, Weber plans to focus on enhancing Montanans’ opportunity for economic prosperity through property tax and housing reforms, ensuring access to affordable healthcare, and supporting adequate funding for public education and maintaining local control over curricula, programming, and student safety.

Weber previously served ten years as Cascade County Commissioner. She provided key leadership to enhance Disaster and Emergency Services, advocated for rural volunteer fire departments, and promoted homeownership. She supported the courthouse roof replacement, approved critical road maintenance equipment purchases and the new Expo Park grandstand, advocated for reinstatement of horseracing under a public-private partnership, and supported Aging Services and County Extension programming. Weber enabled diversification of Cascade County’s economic base by promoting agricultural programs and the MANG and MAFB missions. She served on the City-County Health Board, Library Board, Black Eagle Superfund Cleanup Committee, Center for Mental Health and Gateway Community Services Boards (now Many Rivers Whole Health), and the Missouri-Madison River Fund which funded projects along the Rivers Edge Trail and in Giant Springs State Park.

In recent years, Weber has been active in the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce Business Advocacy and Non-profit Committees. She has served as a member of the Downtown Development Partnership promoting economic development and downtown improvements; and she continues to be involved with the Black Eagle Superfund project and as vice-chair of the Missouri-Madison River Fund.

Weber will join area Democratic candidates at a press conference on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Great Falls Senior Citizens Center (1004 Central Avenue), to officially announce her candidacy.
